great news + some ramblings

Woohoo... I won the Feb Challenge over at Graphic 45........ check it out here. I can choose the paper collection I like _ TransAtlantique papers. I dream of doing a travel mini with these papers! Hooray! Now if you have the patience, stay with me as I off load something off my heart. I am feeling lousy because none of my mini albums were picked up for pub....... I sent in 5 for the recent ST calls for mini albums. I wonder why. Yes.. I go this phrase....... wondering why........ wondering if mine were really that bad. Of course, i celebrate with those who toot in the forums .............. but I feel the questions coming from within me "what happened to mine?"........ Maybe I need to step back and take a break from submitting to ST. I never had the luck with them. Well, I will still go on creating - that's my first love (not the submitting) but it still sucks not being selected, right??? Anyway, thanks for listening.......

Mini Album - house

This is one of my fav mini album "Our first home".......... I really really enjoyed the process as much as the result. Why? Because we just sold our house, will be shifting to somewhere slightly bigger. I will miss this place.......... this has been home for the last 12 years.......... our first home when we got married.......... the place where we had kids, and built so many memories. Thus, I am full of mixed emotions........ happy to get a bigger place yet sad to move. Though this house looks dated......... we didn't have much 12 years ago......... we didnt even reno when we moved in.......... but we have built a loving home for ourselves and the kids. The irony is now we have more 'dough'........ can afford to do up the next house... put in 'designer kitchen' and more......... but still my heart is with this place. Well, here is the mini: 1) Cover I cut a 'house' shape from raw chipboard. Cover it with Webster Pages. Add in lace, trims, pearls. Layer a hambly over and add these Cosmo Cricket letters. 2) Page 2 I use Jenni Bowlin Bingo cards as the pages but I cover it with Webster Pages journaling cards. Love these cards... so convenient... I wrote all my journaling on it. This page, I add pics of the people who lived here. My mom, my kids and us of course. 3) Page 3 This is the living room (as Singaporeans called it)....... hall as Americans call it. I took a pic of the large space and I journal about what we do here and what we put here. The kids can spread out their entire village of Polly Pockets... toys and even a mini kitchen. This is where they play. 4) page 4 This page I talked about our fav nooks - like the couch..... the computer table in the hall where we work. The discipline corner too! Hahaha.... i took a pic of the little one going thru time out. So funny! Yes.. that's the Kwok family famous time out corner where Charis will not forgot.... discipline is good for the kids! 5) Page 5 Oh.. the kitchen.... I hate it initially cos it is so dark and small. Not enough work surface to work on for a keen cook like me. But we made the most of what we have. I even taught Charis to cook here. Lots of mother & child bonding in this little kitchen. Love it now! 6) Page 6 Our rooms...... what can we say? We sleep very well! For the kids room, I talked about my fav - the library I made for them. I bought bookcases and squeeze in many many books. I like that it is accessible and they can go to that corner and read anytime. My fav! 7) Page 7 My scrap space - a tiny corner in my mom's room. My place of sanity and inspiration. And the other page - my fav reading corner. That little space on the right of the couch..... the place where the winds blow. Love this spot. Where I get my reading done! DO you like this? I love this album alot. And I finally used up ALL my webster Pages 3 collections of papers and journaling cards. Very sad! boo-hoo... boohoooooo....... i love webster pages a lot. I have made countless LO, projects and cards. Someone get me the new papers........ I am having withdrawal from zero WP. LOL!

Scrap Schemes

New and fresh inspiration over at Scrap Schemes. Come and join us!
Here is my interpretation of the inspiration.
I went for vintage papers and look. In fact, these photos are more than a decade old.
The middle one is courting days..... the other 2 are 'pre-kids'.
I use our theme verse (wedding) as the title and journaling.
But I also hide journaling to document my reflections for the theme verse. How we made it work!
I made some flowers by cutting motifs from this Graphic 45 papers. Love these papers!
To highlight the cute polka dot and cherry paper, I 'frame' it up with some Maya Road sheers.
You probably have guessed...... I also submitted this for Graphic 45 Feb Challenge.

A cupcake album

I pre make this little cupcake album for Charis birthday. Yes... it is in May and what am I doing?
Since YSS sent me this, I thought I will pre made the cover first... and I cover the rest with Making Memories Love Notes......... cos these papers suit my sweet girl. She is this pink girly girl! Just perfect for her.
And as I cover each page, I realised i will first use the pages as a banner first. see 6 pages enough for her name CHARIS.
I am just gonna tie some ribbon and then hang in somewhere in our party.
Yes.. you guess it... she wants a cupcake theme party this year. And mommy (me) will definitely say YES. We made the invites with cupcake rub-ons.... now I just got to think of a craft (decorating cupcake, maybe).
She did this herself..... punch with my MU scallop punch...... add stickles.... did the rub-ons. Simple and cute invites for her friends!

OLW -living

Ooooo.... I love this word over at OLW.... "Living"... it is so full of vibrancy, life and expectation. So, I altered this CD case where my Webster Pages journaling paper came in. This is like a love letter to myself. This paper has a stamp image at the top right corner. Very cool!. And I like the colours of teal and raspberry combo for this project. "WORTH LIVING" Techniques: - For the cover, I stamp the case with Staz-on White.. to give it a misty look. - Then I add a Fancy Pants packaging tape across. - I painted a frame with teal... oooo... loving this colour. Then I use my fingers to dab on Gluepad... randomly dab on the frame. Then I sprinkle... just a bit of WHITE UTEE..heat emboss.... . this gives the speckles look on the teal frame. You get the White 'dots'. - Layer with a Prima flower, a piece of raspberry felt.... - then I paste a small piece of FP packaging tape... then i use my heat gun... it crinkles and curls due to the heat. Love love the effect. - found a vintage butterfly to add on top. Do you like this? Journaling inside: I love this recent photo of myself..... very healthy looking.... full of life... hee..hee... of course, after losing some weight due to my Jan illness. Journaling reads: I am glad to be where I am today. When I was young, I often wondered why I am here. What am I living for? What's my purpose in life? When I found God, I finally understood the meaning of life and found my purpose for living. I am living out my calling acoording to his plans. I am enjoying life, I am truly living. I dont need to struggle whether I am worth living.... I found the source of life. I am soaking in the joy, the fun, the ups and downs of living. As i journey along, I found fulfillment, satisfaction. I'm living the life I 've imagined & better. I am worth living. I am awake, conscious each day of the tremendous energy life gives. I've decided to give my best shot in living. One life, LIVE it! Back looks like this:
