my beautiful home

Here is a big project I did this week. This involved our entire family. My children helped paint the fence.......... hubby constructed the fence onto the corrugated board... (this engineering training helps)....... while I 'decorate' the house. This house is not 'ready-made'....... I constructed it out of flat chipboard sheets...... the roof is removable....... and we can house a album inside. This house will be our main home decor item this Christmas. I like the title "Home is where our heart is"......... aptly put cos the entire family put this house together. Of course, those cute horse, sheep and mouse belongs to the kids. LOL! Join me as we take a closer look at this house: Layer 3 different papers at the background. I heat emboss with a nice brown swirl at the sides. I love to add details. I cut the heart from Websters Vellum sheet. The words "Home" comes from one of the papers. I heat emboss CLEAR UTEE on the word "HOME". And that hanging motif....... cute too. Heat emboss with CLEAR UTEE to highlight it. Can you spot a Melissa Frances key and keyhole. I have been hoarding that for a long time. This tree was much taller...... I had to 'chop' it shorter... see how I created a tree truck with twine. I love that texture. Added some Prima pearls on the tree to mimic lights. The sides of the house: that owl had to be there... I love that... i placed a metal heart hanging from the roof. Oh... another cute detail: I made this window with 'curtains' from Websters Trims. Do you like it? Close up look of the hanging motif : Heat Emboss with Clear Utee.
Oooo... the roof with 'snow'...... Tim Holtz technique last year... make snow...... the texture is amazing. I also dripped some white candle wax on it.
I love how the vellum sheet looks on the roof.
These cute mouse...........
The fence is hard work....... painted many times........ and then with crackle paint.
Hope you like it........... come back next to see the album inside the house. I am still adding photos and journaling.
Oh... btw, I have good news.... I am back for another term as DT for YSS......it is just announced on the blog.....
I am so thankful.

YSS

YSS sent me some lovely My Mind's Eye Holidays papers. "Merry Days of Christmas" is a very vintage red, green line "Colourful Christmas" is a cheerful pink, blue line. I love both because they are so 'scrap-able"...... LOL LO1: Merry and Bright First time I scrap about my tree......maybe this year... I added some soft stuff toys which makes it so warm. I love the look of my tree. LO2: BFF Scrap my Hongkong photos.... my girl and her BFF...... this line of papers are perfect for these pictures. Cute, cheerful and just gorgeous papers! I love love the 2 girls motif from the die cut. They are perfect for this LO. Card cum gift holder: I am swarm with gift wrapping and I decided to personalise some ..... made this card with a Maya Road Kraft Envelope inside to hold a gift card for a friend.
Ornaments cum tags:
Ok... ok.. I started Dec with huge ambitions... I have to make some ornaments..... but as time passed.. I ran out of time... so I wanted more 'time' for these ornaments....... they will still make their way to my tree but I have another purpose for them. I will use them as gift tags on top of my presents....... that explains why the letter "T"... "L".... "J"...
So these 'ornaments' will enjoy a longer time....... hee..hee... A close up look at 1: Another look on my Christmas tree
Btw, the glitter transparent thing is a PRIMA Transparency. Love the gold glitter. Perfect for Christmas.
All supplies come from YSS.

There are so many gorgeous elements to cut from these papers.. that cute house.... the hanging ornaments.... oh.. i seriously fall in love with these papers. Just love this deer peeking from the corner. Added some flowers. Oh... this cute house... I cut the frame of the door..... back it up with another green paper... added word stickers. Love the cute door! Textures... textures... textures... I am huge on creating textures and feel. I mix Multi Medium, pearl ex powder and glitter. So fun! And I just brush it over this red polka dot papers. Love love the final effect. It has this shimmer, glitter texture! Wish you can touch it!
Finding your voice:
This is a heartfelt LO for me as my girl is growing up and finding her voice.
Journaling reads:
My dear girl, you are growing up. Today we went to a Gap store and you started telling me your vision of an outfit. You wanted a crop jacket to top it off. Very specific in what you want. I let you pick a set of clothes and this is the final look. I love it! YOu have such great taste......... hmm... I wonder where that came from? I find that you are finding your own style, discovering your own voice & asserting your own self. This is a great process and we are cheering you on all the way, girly!

At the bottom, I pleated a paper and stamped a music note. See this new butterfly stamp.... Martha Stewart never disappoints. My new Fav of stamps now. Details:

so much happening

First of all, some projects for YSS. I made this 'wedding book' for a couple getting married in Dec. I am giving them some words of advice or wisdom.... I cut a 12x12 into half and folded into this. All from Making Memories Wedding Collection. Front: I love the Making Memories Shimmer flourish in blue. Add a nice touch of colour LO: Teamwork Pardon the bad photography....... it's been raining and we hardly get clear sky. Here this LO is dedicated to my 2 girls who played so well together on our trip to the park. Daddy was away for so many days and this is 1 good day they stopped whining and complaining... They worked together to build a little sand castle. Good for mommy who need a break from their screaming sometimes. LOL LO: ME This is one of my good photos... LOL... she looked so happy throwing sand around.. not afraid to be dirty. Just happy. I love this picture of her... LO: Ellise-rina In case you are wondering what title that is... a spin off 'Ballerin"....... she added her own name into that... and decided that's what we called her when she is dancing. We borrow a tutu for her and click away. But she turned so shy. But she still look so cute All products supplied by YSS. Check them out today! Lots on clearance. And still continue to check out InspireME (Websters) cos the inspiration there is contagious.... seriously it is the best online crop any manufacturer dreams of........ the atmosphere... the participation..... from ALL OVER THE WORLD. these are a few of my favorite things!!!!

My girls were watching "Sound of Music" and this song is my fav..... "these are a few of my favorite things"... oh.. maybe the title is something else but there is this cute song which i love!!
And of course, some things made me really happy this week.
Like this cute SEWING MACHINE!!!! Yes.. I have been wanting this for the longest time... and I finally convinced hubby to buy me 1. Spotlight (my local craft store) has this huge sale... $199... original $298.......... now my collection of fabric can see some daylight.
Can you see I have been buying fabric? The lady at the store is soooo helpful... I told her "I am a complete idiot when it comes to sewing"....... she laughed... yes.. this tool is for me and my scrapbooking.
She went on and on... she conducted beginner lessons for those who buy this brand of machine. She can't believe me when I said I never sew. She taught me all the buttonhole technique... whatever it is... I told I just want to sew a straight line....... hahahaha.. she was trying hard not to laugh!!!! I sounded like a nerd, right?
And this cutie of a tool bag.......... my sister went to China last week..... I told her to go to the garmet district (in Shenzhen) and get them to tailor-made this bag for me. Guess how much it is??? I told my sis.... has to be pink polka dots and a dash of vintage fabric........ she knew my heart. She got it spot on!!!! Love love my new tool bag.... my adhesive, my scissors... my pens... etc.. It is only Singapore dollars $6!!!!!!
I need to go China now! I could give them all the specifications of all the bags I want.
And finally I got a piece of good news which left me screaming this morning........ will share more in mid Nov....... when the big reveal comes! I am soooooo overjoyed..... thrilled and I consider it a honor!
So, what are your favorite things now? Have a great weekend

more for YSS

This month, I have been playing a lot with Webster Pages. YSS sent me 2 collections and really these are sooo gorgeous! Check out YSS... they still have stock of these papers. Travel in style: This little girl of mine is totally cute! She knows we will be bringing her to Disneyland this year end and now she has packed up and ready to go. See her cute luggage, hat and bag. Love love her cute smile. I used scraps of whatever paper I have left and did a mat behind the photo. I added some stitching to add some interest. I also used some journaling cards... ooo... you got to check out these cards. Love them all. And that chipboard frame...... gorgeous ... from Maya Road. I added Crackle Paint for some texture. Card: Smile I dont normally do cards but I think these motifs from Webster Pages can be adapted for cards. Cards: Delight See the frayed canvas behind the title....... now I am trying a lot of fabric. Love love them now. Same:
This picture is so cute. I was comparing my shoe size with my girl. Gasp!!! She is almost the same size as me, and she is only 8 years old. I am a size 7.5........ she has grown to a 6. How fast! And she loves ballet flats, just like me! I like scrapping such pictures...... not faces cos it tells of a relationship, a connection in a different way.
To save paper, I cut the butterfly from the same background paper. And to cover the 'holes', I just cluster and mat my photo and embellishments there. Save money!
Check out all the new sale stuff at YSS today.
