handmade notebook

I love giving handmade gifts -- it says so much - the person is special to you - i love seeing their faces. Today I want to share a tutorial on making these notepads/notebooks. Absolutely delightful to make. My daughter is already making request for these on her birthdays! Ok, that dpends on how many friends she is inviting over!!!
First I start with some paper, i have chosen this stack of Prima Ledger papers in my stash. I love its heavy weightage and prints. So vintage and lovely. I also set aside a chipboard... a fairly light weight one, that is easily to fold.
I chose 6 sheets(these measure 12x12) and from each sheet I cut 3 pieces of 9x3 inches papers. See this picture below. I have decided to have a 9x3 inch notepad! nice and tall. Next, I stack all the cut up papers together and clip it tightly with a clip. Then i apply glue to the top part. I repeated this maybe 3 times. Just to get the glue to the paper. So it will look like a notepad where you tear from the top.
While waiting for the glue to dry, let's work on the cover.
I cut this to a size of 9.5x3.5 (when folded)
I want it a little larger than the notepad.
Spine will be 0.75inches
Then I painted it with a coat of blue paint.
Painted the inside but only 1 inch from the edge.
Dont forget the spine too.
Then I take a piece of lace (actually it is left over curtain material from the dollar bin in my craft store) Size is about 1/2 an inch larger than the chipboard.
Fold the lace over the chipboard and paste down. Fabric glue works better here.
Then i cut 2 pieces of ribbon (8inch long) and glue down like this.
Paste down the notepad on the right.
Then i take another piece of 9x3 inches paper and paste down on the left.
Added a rub on and a canvas resist butterfly (Prima)
Oh, I tie a pom pom trim over the spine. Just to give it more textures.
Or you can tie a pencil there too.
Finally embellish the cover as you like.
I cover this with lots of Prima flowers and Resin.
Perfect gift!
Hope you like it. Have a great weekend!

Fairy, Pixie dust and wings

Hello friends, sorry for missing in action. Some unforsee things happen. I went to the eye specialist. Guess what.... discover I had Retina Tear in my right eye. I have never heard of this before. Scedule a surgery immediately that week because my doctor said we cannot wait. I can go blind if the tear worsen. *Grasp*...... thank God ... I am fine now.
Hmm.... that's why I can type this post. LOL
But good advice for you... have your eyes checked at least once a year
I can't wait to scrap after my op but I was told to rest it a bit first.
So yesterday was the first time I scrap since 18 Oct.
A layout of Pixie Dust, Glitter and wings.
I found a old photo of my elder girl when she was 4+ yrs old.
Now then I did a comparison with my younger one who is 4+ now.
Can you spot the difference.
One is goofy, definitely chubby..... and fun
The other is soft, sweet and delicate (oh... we think she is pretending to be demure).. LOL
I layered lots of Glimmer Mist in the background. I love adding such touches.
And I took out my Glimmer Glam in Pink and load it to my Prima Resin pieces.
Look at that mushroom and bird house. I love the effect.
So how are you doing my friends. take care and have a great week!
This layout is up on Made with Love now and you can see it at the store too.

some Prima love + RAK

Hi friends, what inspires you? Would love to hear your inspiration.
For me, nothing beats new products. When I saw these Prima shabby chic Resin Treasures, I knew I wanted them all. I love to dream of possibilities with them. For this layout, I used the 'windows' Resin, I dab some Distress Stains over it and then apply some glaze over. I love how 'golden' it looks.
Next up, I love a good color challenge. This month, Prima PPP colors are so 'autumn", browns, shades of neutral ........ yums!!! Just love it. Here's my interpretation. I love this photo of my lil sister. She is not lil anymore. She is a mother. I am so proud of her.
And finally as promised last month, I am givnig a RAK... yes.. these brand new Prima flowers and a BG stamp. Leave me a comment and I need recommendations from you. I like to know which site or who can design my blog header and background for me. I like to customize mine. Can you point me in the right direction by leaving me a link or contact? And you will be entitled to the draw for this RAK. Close this Friday, 23 Sept. thanks Have a wonderful week!

Lots of Prima Love

First up is my little contribution to Love Japan since the disaster hit them. Tomoko set up a auction thingy to raise funds for the victims>>> HERE..... I want to contribute something and last month I made 3 sets of cards and 2 mini albums for her sale. Made these in 1 day and ship priority to her in zilch time. Hope this auction kicks off well. my simple way of blessing the people Japan.
Next up is my entry for Prima BAP....... I take part in this contest every month... I love their sketches and of course, best time to use up my growing Prima stash a bit more. Ops.. then i buy more! LOL
And a relatively new contest at Prima is their Color Palette. Gorgeous spring colors and I dive into Home and Decor project for our house. I use the Mistables and spray inks over them and made them into flowers. My house is certainly brighter with these gorgeous colors.
And I think I owe my sister a "Welcome" signboard for her house. I found this wooden thing (what do you call this)...... anyway, I use a Prima Melody paper to cover a Maya Road Bird Chipboard and alter this for her gate. And out comes the Prima blooms and vines..... oh... my love! I hope no one will steal this from her house. Haha!
Hope this inspires you to go beyond the pages and dive into some projects for your house! Brighten up with flowers, vines or butterflies. Oh... tame my heart, this spring. I am so loving all the colors i see in magazines and books and window display..... esp Zara!!! And finally a new RAK winnner.... see HERE.. The winner did not contact for 1 month, it is only fair I pick a new one from my blog followers Here is for Jenneke !!! Email me at solouloulou@yahoo.com I want to send out the RAK!!!

Prima AUG BAP

I have been doing Prima BAP for some time, and I love their sketches. Simple yet you can take it to whatever style or look you like. It is so versatile. HEre's my interpretation 'Precious" A picture of calm and rest ... my little niece... she is a cat napper.. meaning she only naps for 5 mins here and there. And she is such a light sleeper that her cute little eyes open wide when we speaks. Here, my hubby took over the job while my sister and I had dinner. Obviously she was sleepy.... she leaned her head on his shoulder and ........zzz... only for a little while. LOL She is fast winning our hearts! Isn't she cute! I followed the sketch closely...... added my own touches. Sewing......... inking....... ruffle the edges.... and yes.. play with new stamps....... can you see the little butterflies... oh... 4 bucks for these stamps.. so worth it! I wanted a soft color palette..... so I chose blue and browns... and a dash of greens from the Annalee papers. Just a pop of yellow but these little roses were too bright. What did I do? Yes...dry brush with white paint. my fave technique. It just tones down the color a bit. Not the sunny yellow but muted yellow! thanks for dropping by. Have a great weekend!

Doll

Did this LO for dual purpose. Prima July BAP and TCR#16. And this was done just before dinner.... I took 30 mins. A record for me, including the fussy cutting. I guess pressure for time does squeeze every creative drop out of me! I love the result. At least I wont be dwelling too long on what embellishments to put. I dont have to worry about colors cos the Color Room Challenge did that for me. Voila... so, if you want quick pages done, join in some challenges. I like Creative Prompts for you, The Color Room, Colors Combo Galore, Creative Therapy, What's your favorite challenge site? Can share with me? Leave a comment on this post. I appreciate it lots! Finally this photo of my 'doll' really perks me up. She don on a Chinese CheongSam and looks every inch the China doll. And that smile is a killer. At least for me. LOL! Thanks for coming by and your lovely congrats comments and sms and emails. Your support and love made my day! See ya!

Love love love

This week, I created this little mini for someone who is battling with depression. With a heavy heart, i wrote my verses and words of encouragement for her. Really very sad to see the devastating effects of this illness. I firmly believe it can be treated with proper medication, support from friends and family and of course total healing from God. My heart goes out to all who at 1 point suffers from this illness. And sometimes I wonder what is happening to our world today. With better affluence, better advancement, but quality of life is not necessary better. I see the crippling effects...... the heavy emotions..... and sometimes affecting even the young generation, at the height of their youth and energy. WHY? I really dont know. I guess we come back to the everlasting love of God and in Him we find peace and security. Mini "LOVE"......... using lots of Prima left over papers...... using the transparent packaging as the backing for this mini do you notice that these transparent plastic has words printed on them. Love it so much!!!
Something else i noticed, in 2 of the Prima "Flight of Fancy' papers,
the words printed there are actually Fruits of the Spirit...
love joy peace patience goodness kindness faithfulness.... etc.
Did anyone noticed that???
Thanks for hearing me in this post.
Have a happy great weekend.
Oh.. btw, thank you for the 40th blog follower... (waving to you)
I will be doing a RAK for my blog followers
........ surprise pack of trims, charms... all things vintage... from me!!!
I will announced the WINNER on Monday. See you!
Thank you once again for your love and comments on this blog!
I appreciate everyone of them.

Prima BAP - MAY

I have been in a rut lately, in my scrapping. I had lots of ideas swirling in my head. But I feel so tired.... sort of zap of my energy to 'create' prob from caring for my sick kids for the past 3 weeks. Now Ellise is better, Charis is down. Sigh!!! The bad bug just keeps going around. So, today, to break out of my rut.... I took Ellise downstairs my flat, dress her up in her fairy/ballerina dress...... and click away. Yes... first of all, new photos, new composition stirs me alot. I dont scrap the same old same old photos... Then these beautiful shots of her came out.... gosh... my energy came back!!! And the good thing is she is back to her normal perky self... so today I get LOTS of good shots. She is one cooperative girl! woohoo!!! Here's what i did with the Prima BAP sketch. I rotate it a bit..... move the scallop part to the top.... added my own touches. I love the colors most of all. This just perks me up!!!! Pinks & blues... The whole color palette is just so light and airy! JOY The 'JOY" fabric words packaging is perfect for this, I love that i can journal on this green card........ I love hidden journaling How do I hold the journal card? I sew the papers on the background piece so it forms a pocket. see the sewing.... Now my fave part is hiding flower behind papers. Part of it shows forth, nice peeka-boo I wanted to squeeze another cute pic of her.. I cut up the oval made a hole and put the pic from the back. I added Liquid Pearl around it. Oh... this bird stamp from Prima is sooo vintage. I used this for my class recently and everyone loves it. We joked that the size is just right..... hahaha... not too fat... you know some bird stamps are just too fat.. it blocks other stuff ... too big... *wink*.. anyway, that's the scrap talk we do in my class. *LOL* Yes.. I know... you gals want to buy it. I have informed Elvira and Sandra((owners of my LSS) to bring these stamps in again. It was sold out in the store. That's really fast!
Another fave, the dress form. This is my 2nd piece.
Do you know where I can buy these again?
It is sold out everywhere. I REALLY need to buy MORE.
I love that pearl stub ... looks like a necklace, right?
I see a new face in my 'followers' list. thanks!
1 more to 40 and i will do a RAK again.
Every 20 followers, I will do a giveaway.
thanks for staying with me in this long post.
Thanks for dropping by. Have a great week!

It is raining Prima here!

haha... I couldn't think of a title till I saw YSS blog about raining flowers. Yes... in my previous blog.... I told you about YSS receiving a huge shipment of Prima... more than flowers... we have lace, pebbles... chipboards... everything! I load more into my shopping cart. *wink* Here's 1 I created some weeks back for the Prima DT call "Garden of my lil' secrets".......... I used the long packaging of Prima vines (i have so many of these because i teach using these in my last class)..... nobody wants the packaging, right? So i found a fun way to use them....... Close up: First I fold the long packaging into 3 parts... and I sew them into a pocket and a flap. I embellish the front with Prima, of course... LOL You can open up the flap for journaling/photo. Behind, you can tuck a note or a photo into the pocket... see that cardstock with the rose lace tab!!! The title suits the composition as well as the design. I like my LOs with details and textures........ little touches to add interest and invite the viewer to take a closer look. There are many hidden flaps and pockets... like my lil garden to hide my secrets. One of them being... I hide my new shoes under my bed!!!! hahaha... in case someone in my household is counting my shoes 'population'........... *wink* ... shhhh.. dont tell on me! Hope you like this fun project and LO!!! Use your prima packaging in new ways!

Happy vibrant days - MME

This month, I get to work with MME Quite Contrary Papers from YSS. Gorgeous brights and fun papers! Here are some of my completed assignments: "Rain"... she loves holding her umbrella..... even when it is a bright and sunny day. And she can boldly ask for RAIN!!!! LOL I like this die cut paper but it is a little too busy. Simple - just use a cardstock to balance it out. Can you spot a Prima green packaging, that's my hidden journaling. I placed the title on the umbrella die cut from MME. And this AC thicker font is my fave this season. "Salutations" I hid a big Prima Flower here.... roll and distress the papers a little.
Another one "EVERYDAY"
Every DT gets to scraplift June (BBhome)'s work this month.....
Here's my interpretation of her (Be inspired)..... I clustered a lot of embellishments around the photo.
That's June signature touches too!
Layers of paper and trim(love this trim from AC)
I misted this chipboard (everyday) with Glimmer Mist Tattered Leather.
Just love the color!
And a new flash: YSS will be having a DT call soon, so get ready your best work and submit!
Keep posting at our Gallery.
YSS is the best! Erica(owner of YSS) is sooooo sweet and generous!
YOu will love working with her!
