these are a few of my favorite things!!!!

My girls were watching "Sound of Music" and this song is my fav..... "these are a few of my favorite things"... oh.. maybe the title is something else but there is this cute song which i love!!
And of course, some things made me really happy this week.
Like this cute SEWING MACHINE!!!! Yes.. I have been wanting this for the longest time... and I finally convinced hubby to buy me 1. Spotlight (my local craft store) has this huge sale... $199... original $298.......... now my collection of fabric can see some daylight.
Can you see I have been buying fabric? The lady at the store is soooo helpful... I told her "I am a complete idiot when it comes to sewing"....... she laughed... yes.. this tool is for me and my scrapbooking.
She went on and on... she conducted beginner lessons for those who buy this brand of machine. She can't believe me when I said I never sew. She taught me all the buttonhole technique... whatever it is... I told I just want to sew a straight line....... hahahaha.. she was trying hard not to laugh!!!! I sounded like a nerd, right?
And this cutie of a tool bag.......... my sister went to China last week..... I told her to go to the garmet district (in Shenzhen) and get them to tailor-made this bag for me. Guess how much it is??? I told my sis.... has to be pink polka dots and a dash of vintage fabric........ she knew my heart. She got it spot on!!!! Love love my new tool bag.... my adhesive, my scissors... my pens... etc.. It is only Singapore dollars $6!!!!!!
I need to go China now! I could give them all the specifications of all the bags I want.
And finally I got a piece of good news which left me screaming this morning........ will share more in mid Nov....... when the big reveal comes! I am soooooo overjoyed..... thrilled and I consider it a honor!
So, what are your favorite things now? Have a great weekend

more for YSS

This month, I have been playing a lot with Webster Pages. YSS sent me 2 collections and really these are sooo gorgeous! Check out YSS... they still have stock of these papers. Travel in style: This little girl of mine is totally cute! She knows we will be bringing her to Disneyland this year end and now she has packed up and ready to go. See her cute luggage, hat and bag. Love love her cute smile. I used scraps of whatever paper I have left and did a mat behind the photo. I added some stitching to add some interest. I also used some journaling cards... ooo... you got to check out these cards. Love them all. And that chipboard frame...... gorgeous ... from Maya Road. I added Crackle Paint for some texture. Card: Smile I dont normally do cards but I think these motifs from Webster Pages can be adapted for cards. Cards: Delight See the frayed canvas behind the title....... now I am trying a lot of fabric. Love love them now. Same:
This picture is so cute. I was comparing my shoe size with my girl. Gasp!!! She is almost the same size as me, and she is only 8 years old. I am a size 7.5........ she has grown to a 6. How fast! And she loves ballet flats, just like me! I like scrapping such pictures...... not faces cos it tells of a relationship, a connection in a different way.
To save paper, I cut the butterfly from the same background paper. And to cover the 'holes', I just cluster and mat my photo and embellishments there. Save money!
Check out all the new sale stuff at YSS today.

YSS projects

Completed some projects for YSS. Here they are: Hanging door frame: Ballerina My little missy is going thru a 'ballerina' phrase. She is twirling, swirling and wants to be a ballerina. I am not buying that tutu yet! but well, I made a little one for her using tulle on this frame. I cut the frame from Webster Pages "postcard from Paris". Added a tulle flower and pink tulle. And the inspiration for this comes from this book ....... a giant pop up story book. LO: Scent Here's a simple one. Took photo of my fav perfume, Estee Lauder Pleasures. Just had to document the everyday life.. stuff I use. See I took the picture with lots of Prima flowers... hee..hee.. since this perfume is has a floral scent. For the letters, if you have white glitter alphas... you can alter the colours. I just drip over diluted paint.. very watered down. And I got a blue tint over it. nice! LO: Bliss To celebrate our 13 years of marriage next month, scrap this to document the beautiful memories we share. This blue-ish background paper is from Webster Pages. I love this piece. Soothing, romantic! And since I am entering this for challenge, I kep to all white stuff....... the fabric, the lace and that cute Making Memories paper(which house journaling).
I played with German Glass.... gorgeous glitter!
This white paper comes from Making Memories. dont you just love the swirls?
I stamped a music note (Purple Onion) on fabric and then misted it.
This white mat where my photo rest: it is Ki memories heart lace cardstock over normal Cardstock. Then I painted over it. Cos that heart thingy was pink. You can alter your own too!

OLW - Gratitude

Word up at OLW - Gratitude. This word has huge meaning for me. Mostly important, i want to document who taught me this value. Gratitude Journaling: I will always remember the Chinese proverbs "Yin Shui Shi Yuan" (I can't type out the chinese font here). Grandmom taught me about gratitude through this very impartful phrase. It means whenever you drink water, you must remember the source(spring). This teaching and value stayed with me thru life. I learnt to appreciate the ones who has blessed my life. I've learnt to give back to others, those who are in need. I've learnt to say thank you. I've learnt to always let gratitude fill my heart, whenever things dont turn out as I want. And when I looked at my life now, I am grateful for 2nd chances, grateful for those who encouraged me, those who saw potential in me. I remembered the soulful voice of grandmom, her deep winkles yet a face full of grace and love. She may not have the best of life but she learnt to be grateful. This value will stay with me & I will impact it to my children. All using Webster Pages "Nature's storybook", provided by YSS. I cut the tree and well from a sheet of PP "Wishes Come True"(Webster Pages). I use the tree as a mask first by spraying some glimmer mist. I like having the well there... cos it ties in with my story (remember the water source)... hee..hee...

bug bug go away!

I haven't been feeling well for the last 4 days and it is killing me. As you know, my kids battle the flu bug for 2 weeks or so and now they passed it to me. I hate it when it goes around like that. I need to sleep but couldn't sleep well because of the blocked nose. And this is getting scary for me cos it reminded me of my pnemonia saga that happened this year...... hospital stay.... breathing equipment........ I really need to stay healthy! Anyone, here's 1 LO I did......... I just had to scrap..... I know... you must be thinking "I am crazy"... but sometimes, it beats lying down and getting depressed! LOL. LO: Growing

Journaling: My dear, you are growing up so fast. Sometimes, i wish time will slow down. I still remember holding your little hands, walking together. Now you can take walks on your own... I am learning to let go... learning to cheer you by the sides.... my heart strings still tucking.... wishing to pull you back... I know God will take care of you!

I am a little reflective today so i journal my thoughts for my girl. Growing up so fast I can hardly remember little details of her life.

All materials provided for by YSS.

And some good news, next year... 2 of my LOs will come out in print..yes.. some of my fav magazines...... woohooo.... I have been waiting for such good news. And a BIG THANK YOU for all who signed up for my 3 classes. They are all full..... some on waiting list. Be patient, i will be back with more classes in Nov/Dec. Look out for some awesome projects with Webster Pages.... yes... I will keep teaching with Webster's cos I LUVVVVV them.

Webster Pages at YSS

This week has been a tiring week. Kiddo was sick for days... high fever and grouchy. So is the mommy! Lack of sleep cos she wakes up every other hour and we got to check temperature. In the day, she is not cooperative. Does not want to take medicine, does not want to eat... I am really tired. But a few things perk me up: 1) 2 boxes came in - 1 from YSS.... gosh.... my hubby thought I am gonna open up a scrapbooking store in my little house. hahaha... that's the tonne of things Erica sent me. I am happy to see all of my fav stuff in that box. 2) This other box, no... I can't tell you yet till the reveal date. This box made me sing, clap and dance. The kids thought I went mad, without sleep for the last few days. LOL! And some moments of peace were helped by this set of stamps. Sassfrass... I dont usually buy cutesy stamps..... I want it for my kids' project. And she was so happy! And of course the little one was happy to be stamping away. Worth the money! From YSS... on sale now! Go grab 1 set!
Sorry for the lighting... she is most proud of her concept. She designed it and mommy here just supervised her stamping. This is part of a recycling project for school. So, to keep me sane and I told you scrapping is cheaper than therapy. I had to dig into the YSS box with these Websters! 2 pages which I created in double quick time, in between her naps and TV programs. I just had to do something for me! I am officially in love with these Webster "Nature Storybook"... honestly when it was launch, I prefer "Postcards from Paris' but now having worked with it, I can't get enough. I am loving the greens and blues. Just has a calming effect on me! LO 1: Look & Find Details: I stamped on sticky back canvas........ brushed some pearl ex on it. Love the effect. I emboss the alphas with Distress powders (Shabby Shutters and Walnut)... nice browns and greens. I tied some twine here and that. I can't use lace, right? These words stickers from 7G were my long time favorites. Dig out those old stash and start using them. LO 2: Time with Daddy
I love the effect of crumpling the vellum. Someone asked me before.. "how do you use this piece of Vellum"...... Use it as a whole piece for background. Against the cream CS, it looks nice. Or you can cut up the motifs. I will show you using another one next week.
And this picture of my little one with Daddy is precious. They went feeding fish at Botanic Gardens. So nice! Dont you think it kinda of cute her little pink hat stands out against the greens and yellows in this page!
Details: I love details!
Cut out the frame and clock from the WP papers. Then I added my title (stamping on twill ribbon). Added some Tim Holtz Rock Candy Crackle Paint over the clock.
The tag hides my journaling. And I added a little photo of her holding Daddy's hands. HOw precious and sweet!
So, finally I veered away from my usual girly shabby chic style. I attempted more masculine colours and LO and I am loving it. No lace.... (check)... no flowers (check)... no girly frills/tulle(check)! Yay!
Thanks for staying on for this LONG post! Thanks for listening to my rumbling. Thanks for stopping by!
